Brand New Grass
Hello PawSox fans!
It’s certainly been a while since a blog. We remain busy here preparing for the 2013 season.
I hope you been following “The Cup Tour” as it visits many location throughout Rhode Island and beyond. The PawSox website has the map and locations of where The Cup has been and scheduled to go. Get your picture with The Cup and please send it to me. Loyal PawSox fan Dave was at the V.A. in Bristol and carried The Cup to the PawsMobile.
During this off-season a brand new field is being laid down. It’s quite nifty to see how it’s done. They have machines that tear out the old grass.
Its done nice and neat, one row at a time.
Little by little, row by row the old grass gets scooped up. Eventually the whole field is bald-headed! The entire field is dirt! Little old school baseball playing on just the dirt.
The field is laser graded. Laser graded ensures a “Level Playing Field.” There are actually lasers put on the field. One near the pitcher’s mound and the other placed in the area behind 2nd base. The picture is the laser in the area of 2nd base.
It shoots a laser to the tractors equipped with the receivers. The two yellow small boxes with the red reflectors on each side of the front are the receivers and they automatically adjust the blade to ensure all is level.
Once everything is level, the workers head over where the rolls of new fresh grass are
They have a machine that lifts the rolls. Please note fellow blogger and PawSox Broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith taking some pictures for his blog. He has a great blog that I encourage you to check out. It’s a plethora of information with all the latest news.
Once the roll is on the machine, its laid down in rows. Nice and neat!
The excess is trimmed very neatly with a saw.
As of this afternoon they have a lot completed.
Once completed, the grounds crew will certainly kick it into gear to once again have one of the best fields in all of baseball.
Last blog I had requested for the PawSox fans to send photos of themselves wearing PawSox gear. immediately I got some awesome pictures from a great season ticket holder Ron.
Here’s one.
Another,
And another.
Thank you very much Ron! It’s great you head to Florida and make certain you have plenty of PawSox apparel packed. Each picture sent was a different shirt…Very impressive!
The schedule will be released pretty soon….Get you tickets early and come see the PawSox defend The Cup on a new field…Kept track of where The Cup is heading, keep those photos coming, I love to hear from you and making sure you know we are….”Here For You!”
Yours in Baseball,
