The Cup Tour Going Strong!

Hello PawSox Fans!

Hope all is going well with everyone as we get prepared for the colder weather that is surely going to make its way to Rhode Island.

The Governors’ Cup Tour has been going very well with a busy schedule ahead. You can check the schedule of when and where The Cup will be at pawsox.com and check out the map designed by PawSox Broadcaster Aaron Goldsmith.

On Saturday, The Cup was part of the Watchemoket Square Celebration in East Providence. The PawsMobile was part of the parade and The Cup was there for fans to enjoy. It was a bit chilly in the morning, but warmed up a bit later on.

The old truck was in the parade:

The Munroe Dairy Marching Band provided the music.

Fans stopped by to take a photo with The Cup!

There was food, games and pumpkin painting for the kids.

It was a fun event that will continue to grow in the future. Did you have your picture taken there? If you did, please email it so we can post it.

Later in the evening, The Cup made its way to the Woonsocket Museum of Work and Culture. I have never been there and was looking forward to it. Ray Bacon the Co-Director of the museum had made the arrangements as part of The Cup visiting every city and town.

If you’ve never been to the museum, I encourage you to go. It’s magnificent! The history of the mills is very interesting to learn about.

The stories of the work the men did and the wages they were paid.

The women worked very hard to provide for families.

Can anyone remember living rooms looking like this?

Or dining rooms looking like this?

The old school rooms with the wooden desk was quite impressive.

A General from the Civil War stopped by to have his picture taken with his wife and The Cup!

The several players from the Woonsocket area that went on to play in the big leagues are on display

Autographs of Clem Labine, a Rhode Island Major Leaguer is displayed.

The crowd is having a great time celebrating the 15th anniversary of this fine museum

A great time was had by all! Many pictures taken with The Cup with the fans. Check on where it will be next. Tomorrow, Wednesday The Cup will be at White’s of Westport on route 6th, Westport from 8am to 7pm! It’s the Southcoast Business Expo that’s open to the public!

On Sunday, the PawSox received an invite to the “soft opening” of Jerry Remy’s Bar and Grill in Fall River. It was a training session for the new staff there.

The place is awesome with a huge 17 foot TV called the Screen Monster!

They have the Rem Dawg available…look at this thing.

Needless to say it was a busy weekend. Remember; if you have your picture taken with The Cup please email it to me. Also, if you have your picture taken wearing any PawSox gear at places around the country/world send those also. I would love to post them here. I visited the White House wearing my PawSox shirt and throwing the peace sign your way.

Hope to see you at some point during the off-season. It’s great to hear from you,  and you know The Cup is…….”Here For You!”

Love hearing from you.

Yours in Baseball,

Rick Medeiros                               rickm@pawsox.com

My name is Lou Ledoux and I have had the privilege of traveling with the Pawsox on many road trips around the country and can tell you from personal experience that there is no organization in baseball that cares more about its players but more importantly its fans than the Pawtucket Red Sox. Rick Medeiros exemplifies what a true leader is all about. His job is to get the equipment from Pawtucket to the next stadium where the Pawsox will play their next road game and often times with very little time to spare. Everyone from the top on down wishes us well and tells us to be safe and if we need anything be sure to call. There is constant communication at all levels and the players thank us for staying up all night and driving their equipment to their next destination so they can suit up for their next game without interruption. While away from the friendly confines of McCoy Rick looks at what can be done to make the fans visit to McCoy an even better experience. He’ll ask the concession people how they serve their steak sandwiches or he’ll observe the security staff to see if anything can be taken from how they perform their duties so as to enhance the experience of fans at McCoy. Lou and Mike always support us with anything we need and truly care about our safety and well being. Goody make it his priority to get us on our way ASAP and he and Rick are in constant contact with each other at all hours of the day and night.I could tell you many, many stories about what everyone does behind the scenes but that is not my place to do so. I just wanted to personally express what an honor and privilege it is to work with true professionals whose first priority is to give their fans the best available in all of baseball and do it with integrity and passion and always have the fans best interest at heart. We have a shrine here in New England and it’s at McCoy Stadium for all to visit,

Lou Ledoux
